Who we are
IFKT - USA is a section of the International Federation of Knitting Technologists. The international organization was founded in 1956 and has its roots in Germany where the main office is held. The USA section is looking to grow its membership to build a community that can support each other in times of growth, challenge, and opportunity.
As an organization we welcome anyone with an interest in knitting. According to Article 3 of its 1960 statutes, the original purpose of the organization was ‘to bring together managers, technicians and specialists in the knitting and hosiery industry from different nations through friendly ties in order to jointly promote the general interests of the knitting and hosiery industry and to serve its professional development’. This goal rings true today both for the main organization and the USA section.
